I killed 9-5...
For me, the whole 9-5 thing just wasn’t working.
I was constantly rushing. Rushing my precious babies (now 4 and 6) through their days and lives. Rushing the commute. My existence was that of anxiety fuelled guilt. Constantly living with the sense of foreboding, of not doing anything right or enough, in spite of the reality of smashing the goals in my path.
I knew I’ was not alone, with the juggle of major competing priorities. I could see parents of young children everywhere I looked, sacrificing themselves in the attempt to cram it all in to deliver this chronic expectation of 9-5. Those of us caring for ageing or unwell relatives, or those of us who just want to smell the roses. The voice in my mind was getting louder all the time;
There has to be a better way to do this!?
Something had to give.
I love what I do professionally, I’m bloody good at it. I’ve helped to build some of the highest performing teams across every industry imaginable, throughout diverse geographies. I did NOT want to stop, I wanted to do it more, to do it better, with a deeper, more meaningful relationships with my clients.
So, when I was on a trip back ‘home’ to Scotland, surrounded by rolling hills, lochs and midges… I had an epiphany. I wanted to create a completely unique offering, a flexible, freelance resource that supports those companies without the internal capacity or expertise to grow their business and develop their people, with access to the best support and advice around.
I also wanted to enable people to earn a crust, with interesting work they can do whenever they damn well please. With success measured purely on output and customer satisfaction. You could be on a Bali beach or on the dunny. Where ever your ‘thinking’ or ‘doing’ time is at its best.
And so, my third child was born
