That time we… A hiring strategy success story for Munro Footwear Group

Pretty bad timing really…

Leading Fashion Footwear biz, Munro Footwear Group (MFG) experienced a high turnover of their internal talent team at a key point; They were seeking to expand their omni-channel presence, notably ecommerce, for many of their brands.

They were also on the brink of opening up a new Distribution Centre in Truganina, VIC.

Needless to say, this aggressive transformational agenda meant a myriad of hiring needs, with not enough hands on deck to support it.

Their ideal scenario was to replenish their in-house talent team, which was going to take some time considering the candidate pool for talent personnel was insufficient and highly competitive.

Build a bridge!

To bridge the gap, MFG enlisted the help of Invisible Partners.

We were able to send in Talent Partners immediately from our network, choosing the perfect fit for their needs and culture.

  • Sarah Piper was well placed to meet the frequent hiring demands, improving the processes along the way for a more streamlined operation.

  • Kate Beaumont, having extensive experience in both tech recruitment and in Munro’s ATS, Springboard, was able to seamlessly hit the ground sprinting.

  • Jen Beachey was able to dive in and pick up the reins when Kate went on maternity leave

MFG is a relationship centric business, so the Talent Partners we deployed for the engagement needed to reflect that.

Very early on, MFG’s key stakeholders said Invisible Partners produced the best talent partners and delivered the best experience they’ve ever had. They set the bar very high.

We’ve had experiences with agencies before where they receive a vacancy brief, copy and paste previous job ads and place the best of an average bunch.

Invisible Partners focus on so much more than just bums on seats. Part of the reason why they make such great placements, even in hard to fill roles, is that they dissect the brief to truly understand who will succeed in the role.

They also look at processes, not just placements. At every step of the journey, they were asking ‘how can we think differently and improve on what’s being done.

Let’s get to the meat and potatoes

Throughout the engagement, Sarah, Kate and Jen:

  • Reduced agency spend by 50%+

  • Placed 40+ niche corporate roles in 4 months (and counting!)

  • Slashed time to hire from 45 days to 25 days in the tough market

  • Overhauled candidate communications and uplifted candidate experience, with a human centric focus

Bye bye burn out!

Along with the positive impact the new hires are having within the business, the impact on the existing team has also been felt. Before our engagement, one Distribution Centre leader was working excessive hours each week.

He was fast headed for burnout which would have spelled trouble for getting the new centre off the ground. With his new 2IC’s on his team his hours are settling, and he is able to step back into a strategic role where he belongs. No more burn out!

We’re proud to have partnered with MFG, placing high calibre talent in the team and levelling up their processes. Jen continues to check in with all new hires every fortnight to ensure they’re happy and flourishing.

Which, we’re happy to report, they are!
